IMPORTANT 4TH OF JULY INFORMATION

July 4th is only a few days away.  The City of Barnesville wants everyone to have a fun and safe Independence Day.  This can be a busy and dangerous time to travel.  Remember to slow down, buckle up, drive sober, and pay attention.

If you’re lighting fireworks in town, be considerate of your neighbors and only use legal fireworks.  Fireworks that explode or shoot into the air are illegal (bottle rockets, mortars, roman candles, parachutes, ladyfingers, etc.).  A few other reminders to make sure this will be an enjoyable holiday:

  1. Always have an adult supervise firework activity.  Some sparklers burn at about 2,000 degrees.
  2. Legal fireworks can only be used on private property, not on city streets or parks.
  3. Keep a bucket of water, fire extinguisher, or garden house ready.
  4. Discard burned fireworks after dousing with water.
  5. Clean up debris from ignited fireworks.

Have a fun and safe holiday!
